PET/MR Imaging in Head and Neck Cancer
Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) can either be examined with hybrid PET/MR imaging systems or sequentially, using PET/CT and MR imaging. Regardless of the acquisition technique, the superiority of MR imaging compared to CT lies in its potential to interrogate tumor and surrounding tissues with different sequences, including perfusion and diffusion. BBB opening by low pulsed electric fields, depicted by delayed-contrast MRI, enables efficient delivery of therapeutic doxorubicin doses into mice brains
ConclusionsOur results demonstrate significant BBBo levels induced by extra-cranial L-PEFs, enabling efficient delivery of therapeutic Doxo doses into the brain and reducing tumor growth. As BBBo was undetectable by standard contrast-enhanced MRI, DCM was applied to generate maps depicting the BBBo levels throughout the brain. These findings suggest that BDF is a promising technology for efficient drug delivery into the brain with important implications for future treatment of brain cancer and additional CNS diseases.

Does heparin rebound lead to postoperative blood loss in patients undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass?
CONCLUSION: The influence of heparin rebound on postoperative bleeding seems to be negligible, but might get significant in conjunction with incomplete heparin reversal or other coagulopathies. Three-dimensional electrical impedance tomography (EIT) to study regional ventilation/perfusion (V/Q ̇) ratios in anesthetized pigs
This study aimed to develop a 3D method for assessing ventilation/perfusion (V/Q̇) ratios in a pig model of hemodynamic perturbations using electrical impedance tomography (EIT). In order to evaluate the physiological coherence of changes in EIT-derived V/Q̇ ratios, global EIT-derived V/Q̇ mismatches were compared with global gold-standards.
